Striper Fishing on the Chesapeake Bay
Striped bass, also known as striper or rockfish, are the most well-known fish of the Chesapeake Bay. Striped bass taste excellent, are hard fighters.
You can catch them in various ways. They can grow up to over 70 pounds. Fishing techniques we would use would be trolling, sight casting, lure fishing, float fishing, and bottom fishing.
Striped bass spring season for the Chesapeake Bay is May – mid-June. The fall season is October 4th – December 31st. Virginia Coastal season for striped bass is January 1st – March 31st.
This fish species is so popular that we hold one of the largest fishing tournaments in the country. It is called the Rockfish Shootout.
