Virginia Beach Fishing Charter

Virginia Beach Fishing Charter

Drum fishing is almost at its peak point making now a perfect time to book a Virginia Beach fishing charter with Finao Sportfishing. We had a fishing trip last night in the Chesapeake Bay and caught a good amount of nice sized Red drum and Black drum. We left Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach, Virginia at about 7 pm and it only took about 30 minutes to get to the Eastern Shore.

The first location we set up for Drum fishing was anchoring on a shallow sand bar where crabs and bait fish will get stirred up for a easy meal by a Drum. Since it was such a short run to our first fishing location we were set up and fishing before the sun began to set.

The Red Drum and Black Drum fishing is always best at night time. As it became darker we started getting Red drum and Black Drums almost every cast! It was a full moon last night which makes the Blue crabs shed there shell and turn into Peeler Crabs. This is the best bait for both Red drum and Black drum fishing.

The gear that we use on our Virginia Beach fishing charters are Shimano RodsSaltist Reels, Power Pro Braided LineGamakatsu Circle Hooks 8/0Ande 80LB Monofilament Leader, and 8oz Pyramid Sinkers. A good Drum fishing bait is a fresh Blue Crab but Drum will eat multiple different baits such as Spot, Croaker, Striped MulletBlue CrabsSea Clams, and Shrimp. On our Drum fishing charters we fish different locations and different depths. We fish as shallow as 6 feet all the way up to 20 feet. The water temperature that we look for when Drum Fishing is about 60-65 degrees. Drum are migratory fish and move according to temperature.
